During the Great Fast, on the first four Fridays of March (March 2, 9, 16, 23), there will be speakers at NOON and 7 PM in the parish center on a variety of mostly Lenten topics. These talks will be preceded by a short Lenten service in the church. Once the service is completed, we will adjourn to the parish center for a simple Lenten meal of soup and bread. The service, program, and meal are scheduled to last approximately 90 minutes. The speakers will stay for a while if the conversation wishes to continue. About the Presenter: Tom Peters is a retired professional genealogist who specialized in Slovak, Carpatho-Rusyn & German ancestral research. Tom has learned a vast amount of knowledge concerning his Carpatho-Rusyn ancestors and would like to impart a small amount about them that will relate to their trials and tribulations suffered because of their ethnicity and Greek Catholic religion.
The First Days of Holy Week in the Byzantine Rite
About the Presenter: Glenn Sedar is a lifelong faithful Byzantine Catholic who grew up in St Thomas the Apostle in Rahway and moved to St Mary Byzantine Catholic Church with his wife in 2007. He has been a youth minister at both parishes totally twenty years, he has been a head altar server for over a decade and responsible for training new servers and most recently he is Director of Music at St Mary parish.
